22nd MHC Men’s Championship to Take Place in Šamorín, Slovakia

The Mediterranean Handball Confederation (MHC) has officially announced the 22nd edition of the MHC Men’s Championship, scheduled for 12–19 April 2026 in Šamorín, Slovakia.

The tournament will once again gather emerging national teams from across the Mediterranean region, continuing its role as a key platform for development and international cooperation in handball.

Participating Nations

A total of 14 national teams have confirmed their participation:

Bulgaria, Croatia, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Tunisia, and Türkiye.

Slovakia, as the host country, will stage the event in Šamorín, with matches primarily taking place at the X-Bionic Sphere complex.

Competition Format

The championship will begin with a preliminary round featuring two groups. Following the group stage, teams will advance to cross matches and placement games to determine the final standings, culminating in the final on 18 April 2026.

Matches will be played in a dynamic format of three periods of 15 minutes, designed to encourage high intensity and balanced competition.

This balanced grouping sets the stage for a competitive preliminary phase, with several traditionally strong handball nations present in both groups.
